Sywell club aircraft by end of JulyThursday, 16 Jun 2005 A Chief Flying Instructor has been appointed and is now in place setting up the new flying club at Sywell. The CFI is Gareth Aggett, who holds an ATPL and has some 5500 hours as an instructor and examiner, including a thousand hours on microlights. He has been manager of three general aviation airfields -- Caernarfon, Fairoaks and White Waltham -- and has therefore also been appointed aerodrome manager at Sywell. The aircraft which have been ordered for the club are two Aero AT-3 R100s. This is a new all-metal low wing side by side two seater, with Rotax 912S engine. The Rotax is a reliable, quiet, lightweight, four-cylinder four-stroke delivering 100h.p. and is the basis for a whole new generation of light aircraft and microlights. The club will be in the newly constructed Shackleton House directly overlooking the apron and with its own hangar immediately behind. The interior decor, the doors and the windows have all been designed to complement the 30s style of the hotel. Not many flying clubs can be this smart. Delivery of the two trainers is due by the end of July and the club may also offer a 3 or 4 seat touring aircraft. Loading map...
