Definitely worth a visit
We flew into Bembridge on 14 Aug 2016 from Denham. It was a standard overhead join for Rwy 12. There wasn't much traffic by the time we got there (12:40L). The views flying into Bembridge were terrific and communication with A/G radio was helpful. The radio station is parked on the south side of the airfield, next to the parking lot for the Propeller Inn. Landing fees £15.
The Propeller Inn has reopened recently and was quite busy. We had decided earlier to go into town, but were unable to find a cab at the time. We walked (35mins) to the Crab and Lobster Inn, where we had a very nice lobster lunch. The food and the service were both excellent. Later decided to walk back to the airfield along the beach (50+ mins leisurely walk) then climbing up via quite a steep ramp-like walkway.
We got back to the airfield by about 4pm, but radio was no longer manned. We made blind calls and were talking to Solent Radar just after departure.
Definitely worth a visit.
