“ | 1st went there to do my ground but school but had such good time I finished my PPL there< I believe its the best school around, great atmosphere, and a friendly welcome, free tea an advise ” |
“ | Visited Bourn the other day. Lovely little airfield, very nice welcome by staff, very clear A/G. Taxiways are a bit bumpy but it all adds to the fun! A very acceptable landing fee.... Some lovely history nearby. Will definitely be going back & be certainly recommend it to any GA pilots! ” |
“ | Nice Airfield, Sure, the taxiways are a bit bumpy, but the airfield has a lovely calm atmosphere, and a friendly welcome, and well looked after aircraft. ” |
“ | Flew into Bourn on my way up to Cromer.
very easy to spot, runways and taxiways have deeriorated so care needed when manoevering and running up
extremeley friendly welcome and a free cup of tea, not other facilities for visitors ” |
“ | Flew into Bourn last week. What's happening with the place? I remember lots of aircraft based here now there's virtualy nothing. If it had not been for an aircraft doing circuits I would have got nothing from the radio. Place looks really run down and they charge a C152 £10 for the services. Not worth the money. I found one friendly female flyer, but that was about it. If you do decide to visit stay off the grass to the right of the club house theres a severe drop off, you will prop strike! Park on the hard, don't do what it says in the guides.Do not hink I'll bother going back, shame. ” |
“ | I have just started my PPL training there. I found it a very welcoming place, everyone was very friendly and willing to show off their vast knowledge of flying. Long Live Bourn! ” |
“ | I flew into Bourn from Top Farn on Friday 2 May to complete my ppl renewal with instructor Richard Francis. Although I had not met Richard before I found him to be a very good and very professional instructor.
I spent some time chatting to Lindsey Brown CFI and Trevor Gilpin FI and even though they were very busy nothing was too much trouble for them and I was made very welcome. I have known Bourn for many years and more than twenty years ago Lindsey signed me off on my solo cross country nav ex and he hasn't changed at all, still as friendly as ever. These instructors are so friendy that they make you feel at ease and relaxed before the flight. A very professional team of instructors who I would recommend to anyone. Bourn is well worth a visit. ” |
“ | A bit shabby in both taxiways and clubhouse but a good choice of runways of a not bad length and very quiet the day I went. Again there were absolutely no radio calls returned so it's best to phone and make blind calls. Watch out for Gransden Lodge gliding site nearby. ” |
“ | Dropped by for a visit yesterday morning. Although the runway have seen better days but it is still useable. Don’t be put off by the ‘SILENT’ A/G service, just make calls in the usual way to let other a/c know where you are and keep a good lookout.
A very friendly airfield well worth a visit but beware of the extortionate taxi fare (£20 each way) to Cambridge town centre! Extremely nice people running the clubhouse. ” |
“ | A great friendly airfield. Although past its prime, well worth a visit for a coffee and a chat. You'll be most welcome (I certainly was and will be back) and it is so inexpensive. May all airfields like this survive the developers' wrath. ” |
“ | Bourn is an exceptionally friendly place, with first class instructors.
The runway may not be the prettiest, but it is maintained and perfectly serviceable and did not feel at all bumpy and is a joy to use. ” |
“ | Dropped in due to a spat of bad weather and enjoyed a free cup of coffee with one of the instructors. 5 squids for landing on a decidedly dodgy surface. I did give it a low pass first to assess and glad I did. 24 has a small landing area of about 450m and make sure you keep to the centre.
Nice and friendly though. Will go back there sometime. ” |
“ | Concrete surface in very poor state of repair. Take care when transiting from grass parking areas to concrete surfaces. My prop did some ploughing in the raised ridges of grass. Dodgy areas could do with sorting out or at least cordoning off. ” |
“ | Nice peacefull little airfield. Although watch out for the gliders from the airfield next door.
The concrete runways have seen better days and could do with a little re-surfacing. Easy to find with a cheap landing fee. ” |
