Brimpton Airfield (EGLP)
Brimpton was started in the 50s, and is busier today than it has ever been -- its flying club has fifty or so active members. It's one of only two airfields in Berkshire, and is in a pretty location, situated just SE of Newbury, but some care is needed when visiting, as the field lies within a restricted area (R101).

“ | I paid a visit to Brimpton yesterday in an RF4 after having flown nearby on numerous occasions. My reason for visiting was to 'walk the strip' in the event of finding the need to land out there in a glider. From the air it looks a little small for a 20 metre span glider. In actual fact, it would not be any problem at all. The welcome was very good indeed. It is quite a hidden gem! The people are friendly, the strip is well maintained although a little uneven and the approaches/climb out are not too bad for obstructions. Thanks, Brimpton for a friendly and welcoming visit. ” |
