“ | I paid a visit to Brimpton yesterday in an RF4 after having flown nearby on numerous occasions. My reason for visiting was to 'walk the strip' in the event of finding the need to land out there in a glider. From the air it looks a little small for a 20 metre span glider. In actual fact, it would not be any problem at all. The welcome was very good indeed. It is quite a hidden gem! The people are friendly, the strip is well maintained although a little uneven and the approaches/climb out are not too bad for obstructions. Thanks, Brimpton for a friendly and welcoming visit. ” |
“ | We visited Brimpton last Sunday enroute to Hinton in the Hedges. What a delightful little airfield this is, no obstacles on the approach, nicely kept runway and homely check in facility and friendly locals. Landing fee £5 with drinks and biscuits availabe at additional cost. Also outside seating area. If I was fortunate to own a airfield this would be perfect. ” |
“ | We visited Brimpton today and were really impressed by the friendliness and overall feel of the place. We came in using runway 25 which was uneventful and a great approach with no obstacles. The runway was well maintained with just a few bumps in places. We were offered a cuppa and there was seating available outside. It was just a portakabin and was basic but did the job. Refreshments consisted of hot drinks and chocolate, biscuits etc but a short walk took you to the canal and pubs and this made for a great walk in lovely countryside. Will definately be back. ” |
“ | I visited Brimpton today in the Cessna 172, Runway is very well kept, grass nice and short. A few bumps here and there, but not a problem. This is surely THE most FRIENDLY airfield I have ever visited, not only did they make me feel welcome, but were also very friendly towards my Girlfriend who was waiting for my arrival. This is THE perfect airfield to visit on a warm summers day, its a lovely place to be, I'm sure I will be making use of this again in the future. ” |
“ | Visited Brimpton last week in one of a pair of Tiger Moths (G-ACDI and G-EMSY). What a gem of an airfield. Excellent strip, friendly locals, nice cuppa and plenty of willing hands ready to help coax a warm Gipsy Major back into life for the trip home.
Certainly somewhere that I will visit again. ” |
“ | Flew into Brimpton (Wasing Lower Farm) today in a PA28. 550m grass but excellent approaches and a good level surface so pretty straightforward. The Cherokee needed under half the available runway in still conditions using short strip techniques.
Not the easiest to spot, look out for the large gravel pit lakes 1 km to the North West. PPR essential and this A/F is just inside the Aldermarston resticted area so strictly no flying to the South.
Friendly reception, small clubhouse with refreshments available. ” |
