Pilot reviews of Charlton Park / Malmesbury Airfield
A delightful destination. Look for the house, and you can't miss the adjacent airfield, where the runways are in excellent condition. Landing fee £15 - honesty box attached to the side of the hanger. Can be muddy! No facilities on site, however the Horse & Groom is about a mile away and well worth the walk.
My wife and I flew into Charlton Park recently.PPR essential .Runway in use was excellent and taxied up to the Jacobean Mansion house, very impressive with well manicured woodland gardens. No facilities available at weekends, not sure about weekdays, but take a picnic, you will not be dissapointed.£10 landing fee in box next to hangar goes to church fund.
|“||A great airfield in superb estate owned by Lord Suffolk. Main grass strip 25 / 07 is like a carpet, with a slight dip in the middle. Lord Suffolk very friendly and welcoming. No hangarage but can provide tie downs and AVGAS (£1.70 / L). Landing fee £10 goes to local church - includes parking overnight if need be. |
Beware birds in trees just to the North of the house if taking off 07!
