Clacton Airfield (EGSQ)
The green field in the middle of this shot is of the 600 metre grass strip at EGSQ Clacton. If you zoom in and look carefully you can see the public footpath that runs right through the middle! They have a Piper Super Cub and do tailwheel conversions there. You can also combine this with a fantastic farm/short strip course that takes you and the cub to some of the trickiest, nastiest, shortest, ackward farmers fields, posing as runways, you are ever likely to encounter! If you are ever looking to do a PFL for real this is the course for you. Great fun and really hones your piloting skills.
Clacton Airfield accepts genuine emergency and precautionary diversions without charge per CAA CAP 667 9.2 (c) recommendations.

Stephen Nuttall - 0.5 NM North of Inskip VRP - Fly from Blackpool
“ | Flew into Clacton on 16 September from Norwich to take our two greyhounds for a walk. Always a lovely, if sometimes quiet airfield on a weekday, but the staff are very friendly, tea and coffee are available, and the airfield is a short walk to the beach and pier.
A lovely destination with a £15 landing fee (DR400), and a very well kept airfield. Just wish it was closer to our home base at Blackpool! ” |
