Pilot reviews of RAF Cranwell

“ | Flew in for annual RAFCFC fly in which was attended by 70+ aircraft. As befits the home of RAF flying training the whole experience was superb. ATC was a little busy with the circuit positively humming when I arrived but a good professional service nonetheless. Beware joining overhed as there is a (often busy) glider field operating on the north side of the main airfield so when I was instructed to an overhead join I eded up descending over the famous College which was good to see even in what was a bumby circuit! The departure was "traffic" as ATC were shut. Easy to find - make sure if coming from the South that you dont confuse it with Barkston Heath which I confess I came close to a year or so back! Strictly PPR unless you are a member of the flying club. ” |
