Earls Colne Airfield Photos

Visited Earls Colne (EGSR) from Netherthorpe (EGNF) on Wednesday 21st August 2013 in G-ROLY a C172 based at Netherthorpe. Lyndon Sandie was PIC. Our outbound routing was via Fenland airfield. The airfield was easy enough to find and a standard overhead join was completed with no other traffic around. We were told we had a choice of the grass or tarmac when we phoned for PPR but chose 24 grass to land on which was very smooth. We paid the £15 landing fee and was told the best place for food or drink was the trailer outside. We did not have anything as lunch was to be back at Fenland on our return leg. I asked if I would be ok to do a circuit (to keep my G-ROLY currency live as Lyndon was flying) but was told it would be another £15, which is not good really is it!? I declined. After a few aircraft landed including the air ambulance we departed. The people on the desk made sure we knew the noise abatement circuit before leaving. A nice airfield overall but I think the £15 landing fee is a little on the high side and really an extra circuit by us at no extra cost would have gained it a higher score on here.
