I visited Elmsett on 12th September 2012, my friend had a meeting in Felixstowe. You still have to talk to Wattisham who were open just before 0900hrs to assist us with a direct track from the west to Elmsett. You do not call Elmsett as the frequency is not manned, stay with Wattisham until on the ground and call them again prior to departure. The runway is very well kept, short grass, firm and dry even after all the rain we have had in what is supposed to be summer. There is an honesty box for landing fees inside the first hangar marked with the C, fuel available at very reasonable rates of £1.99 per ltr. I was assisted in fuelling by an engineer. Ample parking on the grass and concrete tie downs inset if you are night stopping, you just need ropes. The clubhouse as was closed as they are about to build a new one. Toilets are in the hangar for visitors use. I was made very welcome by David the chief engineer as I stayed at the field until my friend returned in the afternoon. You may have a problem getting 3G on your phone for weather here, engineers allowed me to use their laptop prior to departure for the long run home to Liverpool. A lovely peaceful spot in the middle of the countryside, worth a visit just to get it in your logbook. Landing fee £10.
