Pilot reviews of Elmsett Airfield

Paul Gandy - Heathfield
“ | I visited Elmsett on a Saturday and there was very little activity on the airfield so wouldn't be sure that its possible to get fuel all of the time.
The runway is in excellent condition as are the taxi ways and the grass parking areas.
£10 landing fee paid at an honesty box on the right just inside the hanger door
The airfield is easy to spot form the air and a quite large circuit is stipulated as part of the nose abatement procedures on the web however the landmarks are very easy to identify.
It is the Wattisham MATZ so it is essential to call up Wattisham approach 15 miles out. There is no longer an Elmsett frequency so if Wattisham don't respond it's blind calls on the way in and out of the airfield.
PPR needed and there is good info on the website.

“ | I visited Elmsett on 10 April 2005. It can be a little difficult to spot (for us "non GPS" pilots), but the big hangars at Wattisham help with location - although keep an eye out for gliders. The club was very quiet at the weekend, but we made ourselves a cup of coffee and enjoyed the peace of the English countryside! ” |
