Enstone Airfield

I am a glider pilot from Bedfordshire and was on an out-and-return task with Enstone airfield as my turn point.

I ran out of height over the airfield and was forced to land un-announced on a busy Sunday afternoon.

I found everyone I met to be friendly and helpful in the extreme.

They helped me manhandle my glider from where it landed to a position out of the way and later when my aerotow retrive arrived, move it into position and then helped by launching the tug and glider combo.

So, thank you everyone for your help, it made my out landing memorable for all the right reasons.

Flew in mid week "Blind" radio calls. No other traffic. Rwy very clearly marked, chap came out to plane to marshal to park, a typically under used airfield the facilities basic but ok, landing fee about right and we were told if you want to practice touch and go's all day!!!! (well I suppose you could do several then land have a break change pilots?) you pay £30 Single engine £60 for a Twin (includes the £10 initial Landing fee) rwy is 1100 metres long!!!! Never busy.

Would recommend a flight to this Ex RAF airfield.
