Visited Fenland on 24/07/2012 on a short flight from Netherthorpe (EGNF) in a Cessna 172, G-ROLY. The weather was glorious, with high temperatures, lots of sun and clear skies. Called for PPR and this was granted with no issues. This was a mid week flight but there was still activity at the airfield, possibly due to the recent Flyer landing voucher which incidentally I forgot! so had to pay the £5 landing fee. This is a great price for lading charges these days and it was simply dropped into a drop box. We ordered food, sadly they were out of chips but I had a Bacon and Brie panini which was lovely and a reasonable price of just over £5. Unfortunately with drinks and crisps and another sandwich the bill came to over £14, which is quite steep if you ask me. Although the quality was good. The airfield is in great condition and well worth a visit, the staff we spoke to were friendly. There was another group who had flown in from Blackpool and were delaying their return leg due to low cloud at Blackpool although we heard them en route back during our return trip. For the return we flew via the Wash and Skegness before turning west over Waddington and towards Mansfield then north to Netherthorpe. Fenland can have some bonus points for having Avgas on site too
