“ | Flew in from Blackpool on 23rd May in my Cessna 150. Routed via Talla VOR changed to Edinburgh Radar and cleared direct through the zone to Fife Airport at 3000 feet. Only cleared to call Fife radio when less than five miles out. Landing fee £15 and I paid £2.18 per litre for Avgas. This airport has an excellent restaurant/cafe. We paid £20 a night for hangarage. On departure we got traffic service from Leuchars on track north/west to Stornoway. ” |
“ | We were not made to feel at all welcome here. A nice runway we thought £15 seemed a little bit too much for what's on offer. The bar seemed ok with a nice view over he airfield but I doubt we will return. ” |
“ | I'd just like to give a very big thank you to Julia, Shauna and Alistair for helping me get home last night. I foolishly didn't have a spare headset and my microphone stopped working. With all the problem solving going on, we didn't have time to check the food and drink but everything else is definitely 5's. Thanks again. ” |
“ | Landed at Fife (Glenrothes) on 11th May 12. Runway 25 was in use but the 10 knot crosswind component marginally favoured runway 07. They very helpfully allowed us to land on 07. After a warm greeting from the A/G controller, Shaona, and a fuel top up, we elected to hangar our Cessna 150 for our overnight stay as high winds were forecast. The bill came to a very reasonable £15 landing fee and £20 hangarage. As on previous visits, we found this to be a friendly and helpful place for a visiting aircraft and crew. ” |
“ | Following some glorious weather across the UK, I decided to fly north for a change and finally get round to taking some photos of a relatives business from the air! However, Edinburgh was rather expensive so I looked a little further afield and settled on Fife for my stop.
From PPR to departing, the service was both professional and friendly. The airfield itself is well maintained, with the runway and taxiways all being in good condition.
My sandwich from the restaurant was OK, washed down with an Irn Bru; I suspect I may have been more impressed had I stayed for a proper meal as it was very busy and what I saw looked good.
All in all a great location for a stop-off; and to top it off Edinburgh allowed me to transit over the city which was a great photo op! ” |
“ | Fife Airport (Glenrothes) 16th June 2011. Our third visit here in recent years. Very noise sensitive housing estate on long finals rwy 25. They like you to make a short final turn. Friendly reception by Shauna who operates the A/G radio and also refuelled us. Avgas £2.03 a litre incl. VAT. Landing fee £15 and hangarage £20 a night. Well worth it as strong winds were forecast. Our friends came out from Edinburgh to pick us up. Edinburgh airport fees are prohibitive! The Flying Club Restaurant is excellent. ” |
“ | Always receive a warm welcome from friendly and dedicated staff. The lady on A/G radio is always very helpful, on one occasion had organised for me a local taxi before our wheels touched the tarmac. All facilities excellent and at £15 landing and overnight parking still reasonable. Good value restaurant. Regular visitors will know and others should be prepared for possible runway direction changes when there are crosswinds.

“ | Fife Airport. Visited recently (April 2010) having been sverela times over the years. Still a good venue but landing fees have gone up a bit to £15. The restaurant and restaurant staff are still very good. Cant be sure about the A/G cover any more. I got airfield info from a very confused lady on the radio who seemed to be a bit unsure about which runway I was to use (25/07) due to the wind direction! Last few visits I remember a couple of chaps, Ian and Colin who were very "on the ball" but dont know what happened to them. (Probably moved on as they seemed to know what they were doing) Anyway srtill worth a visit but be on guard for "Airfield info". ” |
“ | Fife is clearly one of the more sophisticated GA venues. Good quality tarmac, A/G and fabulous resturant. In fact the kind of venue where the visting diners seem to outnumber the visiting pilots. This makes for great economics but I felt terribly out of place. However, the staff were all really friendly and helpful, the facilities spotless and well maintained so it would be churlish to do other than score it highly. ” |
