18 Mar 09: Controlled airspace issue
The NATS proposal to change the Glasgow CTA to class D, cutting off the Highlands from England (or the reverse if you are Scots) is due to end on Tuesday 24 March. Details and a copy of the LAA response are available from www.laa.uk.com Folow the link from the homepage. PLease note the email address that can be used to respond as that is not listed in the NATS document.
As NATS have been less than honest in their consultation document, it would be helpful if all pilots could consider responding. Whilst the LAA agrees that public transport aircraft should be able to fly in Class D airspace, we think that Glasgow already has far more controlled airspace than other similar airports and they don't need another 800 sq km.
Importantly, the impact on non-commercial operations has not been considered, as is required by the CAA.
