Visited Gloucestershire airfield on 30/07/2014 in G-ROLY a C172 based at Netherthorpe. Routing was via TNT VOR and WBA NDB.
I had pre booked an ILS and our route was IFR above cloud on the way down. Unfortunately despite arriving at our slot time we were told nether a vectored or procedural ILS was available due to staff shortages! Fortunately the cloud base was 2800ft so we were able to descend through it to MSA anyway but this was a real shame for me.
Upon landing on 27 we parked next to the fuel pumps for AVGAS. One of the AVGAS pumps was out of order and the remaining one had very little left we were told. For such a big airport I found this surprising that the fuel should be in this state.
We paid the very reasonable landing fee and fuel fees and then went for a nice coffee in the café. All very nice and although we did not buy food, the men u looked great. We were heading for Caernarfon so only needed a drink.
I will certainly be returning to the airport in the future, it has all the facilities you could require at reasonable prices, I think we were just unlucky with the issues above.
