Pilot reviews of Inverness Airfield

“ | Should have posted this last year but forgot!
Inverness is a pretty busy commercial airport but I found that they are equally geared up for GA too and I've flown from there three times now.
I didn't have my own aircraft there but rented one from the flying school with an instructor to show me around the locality. The area is great for flying around the mountains and down the lochs. I did a Mountain Flying course with the flying school which was worth every penny - belting down the Great Glen at full power 200' above the water is something I'll never forget.
I used the flying school for all services (other than ATC) and cannot find fault.
The only downside is that the city is quite a distance away, so it proved better value to hire a car (many companies there) than use taxis.

“ | I fly out of Inverness regularly, and all I can say is that it really is the gateway to the highlands and islands.
The facilities are great, as are the people! The flying school is first class and you get a fantastic welcome every time you go there! If you are planning a trip up here, do it! you wont regret it! ” |

“ | If you need to refuel at Inverness and arrive after 4 p.m. be aware you can be kept waiting for up to 2 hours +.
The fuel supplier has only one man on duty who has to drive both the Jet fuel tanker and the Avgas tanker, turn about, or not, as the case may be, when commercial jets are lined up for refuelling!
