Visited Itzehoe today. Has two runways at roughly 90 degrees to each other, one is grass in a fairly rough condition and the other a part Tarmac, part grass. Although there is a control tower at one side of the airfield this seems to be disused, but on the other side of the field plenty of 'C' signage towards the a small yellow booth where you can park up and pay landing fees, 7 Euro. On my initial call in English, they air/ground seemed a bit surprised, and someone else came on the radio who spoke better English. The airfield is also a skydiving centre, so I simply joined on right base for rwy 090 rather then an overhead join. The welcoming on arrival was excellent and everyone was friendly and tried hard to help me, I was really impressed.
s this.
