Keyston Airfield
The strip is just to the west of Keyston village, which is approx midway between Huntingdon and Kettering and just to the south of the A14. The strip orientation is approx 01/19 and has a gradient that slopes down from North to South - consider the balance between surface wind and the slope - I always try to land uphill and take-off down hill unless the wind is significant. The grass surface is good and is wide enough to park several light aircraft without restricting landings/take offs. The local Pub is the Pheasant which in my humble opinion is the best Pub/Restaurant in Cambridgeshire and is only a pleasant 400 yd stroll east of the strip - lunch is a must.
A great strip - but I am biased as I live in the village.
Fly carefully,
CRS

Latest review
“ | Thanks to previous reviews I flew a C172 into Keyston strip today to take my father in law up and dine at The Pheasant. Wind was significant (220/15G25) so took down slope R19 but no drama at all stopping easily by the parking half way down. I could not reach Minto for PPR but the pub crew took my details and passed on. Altogether a thoroughly pleasant afternoon - I plan to be back soon... ” |
