“ | Thanks to previous reviews I flew a C172 into Keyston strip today to take my father in law up and dine at The Pheasant. Wind was significant (220/15G25) so took down slope R19 but no drama at all stopping easily by the parking half way down. I could not reach Minto for PPR but the pub crew took my details and passed on. Altogether a thoroughly pleasant afternoon - I plan to be back soon... ” |
“ | Flew in last Thursday evening. PPR by phone was easy and owner was very helpful.
Field has gentle down slope from North to South.
Strip is generally in good condition although there are a few big dips to be careful of when taxiing.
Went to the Pheasant Inn for a quick coffee and agree it is a perfect example of a country pub. Left the landing fee/donation in the jar behind the bar. ” |
“ | A must for any farm strip pilot PPR a must very helpful owner on the phone, you must try the food in the Pheasant Inn 10 mins walk away. ” |
“ | Flying east from Thrapston direction - junction A14/A605 with the A14 on your left Keyston is 2.6 miles - almost beneath your track look well in advance for the Church spire and the wiggley woggley sand coloured track also East West - this leads from the strip to the Pheasant Inn - and, as others have said a must if you need an excuse
A lovely well maintained strip avoid over flying the village as all movements West of strip I always use Safetycom

“ | Keyston is a lovely grass slope strip and well worth a visit. There is a pub in walking distance from the strip called The Pheasant, which is a slightly upmarket restaurant. Keyston can be quite hard to find and a challenge to land if you have not been there before and may be worth taking someone who knows the strip first time around. ” |
