| “ |  Visited La Rochelle (LFBH) on our 5 day trip taking in Le Touquet, La Rochelle and Jersey before returning to Netherthorpe (EGNF).
La Rochelle was Tuesday 4th September 2012 and the flight across France was fairly straight forward only a little difficulty with French ATC and communication.
We joined left base for runway 09. ATC told us runway 27 to start despite the ATIS saying 09. Anyway 09 it was and a lovely approach of the coast.
After landing we requested fuel and was advised to follow the blue line to the pumps where we were met by the fuel man (after he had finished with the Ryanair 737). Fuel at 2.32 euro about £1.86 a litre.
Parking was via a short taxi to the grass parking area. A bit bumpy but fine. No tie downs. It is opposite the aeroclub.
We tried to exit via the security gate but the code was not working, the security man finally got us out. Chatted to a couple who had flown in from East Midlands with Ryanair for £13.
A lovely stay in La Rochelle, what a lovely town. Back to the airport and it was pretty quiet. Straight through to airside with just my pilots licence to check and we paid the parking and landing fee 39.16 euros (about £31) for 2 days parking and 1 landing fee.
Managed to taxi for power checks with the ATC man saying stop, stop, stop as he must have thought I was going to continue, in reality I was just moving away from the loose stones near the grass.
We were then heading north on our way to Jersey after departing La Rochelle.
Will be back here, great place!
