I flew into Land's End on 29.08.11 having first obtained PPR by telephone. I contacted the tower when I was overhead St.Ives and as requested routed via the VRP at Pendeen Lighthouse. From there I had no problems finding the airfield and was given clear instructions to land on R34. Parking was easy and I paid my landing fee at what appeared to be the same desk that passengers use to check in for Skybus flights to the Isles of Scilly which threw me momentarily! The fee for my PA-28 was £13.50. We had bacon and egg sandwiches for lunch which were excellent although we were slightly disappointed that they had none of the Cornish pasties which are advertised on the airfield's website! We then sat outside on the patio from where there's a superb view across to the Isles of Scilly. There wasn't a great deal of activity apart from the Skybus Islanders coming and going but a very pleasant afternoon nonetheless. ATC was again very good on departure and we routed via Pendeen Lighthouse and St.Ives again then via St.Austell, Plymouth and Exeter before returning to our base in Somerset. The weather was excellent so the views of Cornwall were spectacular and I would definitely recommend a visit to Land's End.

Land's End in the Auster

Enjoyed a brief visit to the airfield in the Auster. Fantastic weather and the flight back was even better with smoother air.

Staff were friendly and helpful.

Called into Land's End Airfield on Monday 29 June out from Perranporth before returning to Blackpool.

The location is super and the refuelling facilities (self-serve) very easy and convenient to use.

I like grass strips, and Land's End has four of them! All were in super condition as was the whole airfield. The cafe was absolutely lovely and the staff friendly and helpful, offering to bring water for our dogs as well as sorting out drinks for us.

Briefing was by asking the counter staff who then allowed us to use their PC terminal to log onto met and AIS.

A commercial field with scheduled flights to the Isles of Scilly, yet very accommodating to GA. When we flew to the Isles of Scilly the previous Saturday, the Tower frequency gave us a basic service to and from the half-way point along the transit corridor - very reassuring over the Atlantic in a SEP!

Another excellent airfield, highly recommended.

The runway number appear to have been rewhitened since i was last here, makes it easier to land on the correct runway! Still worth checking the DI though. Still very helpful and friendly reception from all staff.

Not a very good airport to see from the air, but the welcome is very warm. Nice people.

Visited Lands End again with my daughter in our Cirrus, the first Cirrus to visit Lands End. Great service and value again. This airfield should be on your must visit list as the views over the coast are spectacular, and if you want to stay over there are plenty of good value B&B's.
