We flew into Le Touquet very short notice from Gt Oakley (Nr Harwich), Skydemon made filing the flight plans and GAR very easy. Worked London info' to activate flight plan and stayed with them till mid channel, over to Lille and then Le Touquet approach after having a listen to the ATIS (good speed and understandable). Le T asked us to call left base, not much traffic about although it was the weekend. Parked up "anywhere". No one in Customs so the Aeroclub looked after that, rented two bikes (12E each for a half day each, I felt that expensive as a taxi would have cost that each way, but it was a lovely day for a ride, and they were nice bikes). Had a couple of buckets of Moules and Frites, a little walk around and cycled back. Whilst we were away the aeroclub refueled 25L each side at 1.5E/L. Landing only 15E. The ATC and club were very helpful, and I would recommend Le T' as an excellent stop to refuel plane and soul. I will be back soon! Thanks. Neil

Visited Le Touquet on 03/09/2012 direct from Neherthorpe (EGNF) on or 5 day trip taking in Le Touquet, La Rochelle and Jersey. The aircraft was G-ROLY, a C172 based at Netherthorpe.
The flight was glorious all the way to the channel and then the cloud rolled in. Got down back to VMC but it was a bit murky near the French coast.
The airfield was very easy to find and we joined right base for runway 32.
Very quiet at the airport with only a couple of visible aircraft including another 172 who has been stranded all night due to the low cloud.
Parked on the large apron and went to the terminal. Lots of bikes for hire. We were met with a very friendly welcome and I asked for the aircraft to be filled back to the top. This was done while we away enjoying the lovely town.
The desk arranged a taxi for us with Allo Creton Taxi, Mr Yannick CRETON, the happiest man on earth.
Only a short drive to the town and to our hotel Bristol, around 10 euros in the taxi.
On our return the next morning the airfield was covered in fog and low cloud. We had to wait a couple of hours for it to start to break for our trip to La Rochelle. ATC very helpful as was the service desk allowing me to phone the AFPEx helpdesk.
A computer is present for planning and checking weather but I had my laptop and they offer free wi fi too.
Cannot wait to return, what a delight and how all airports should be.

Flew Sherburn Le Touquet last Friday. This was my first overseas flight. The preparation for the flight was a little daunting but the actual flight was far more straightforward. Obtained service from Manston and passed to Lille info just after coasting out at Dover. Coasted in at Cap Griz Nez ( shortest water crossing) and then just followed the coast down to Le Touquet. Lille then asked me to freecall Le Touquet Tower. Communication was easy. The controllers could switch between French and Enlish with ease. Staff at the reception were really friendly. Paid the landing fee 25 Euro and arrranged refuelling. No one on Customs. Reception rang a taxi for us for the 10 minute ride into town which cost 10 Euro. Stayed 2 nights at Hotel Windsor near the beach which was a budget hotel and cost about 170 Euros for 2 people for 2 nights including continental breakfast.Hotel was not a palace but was clean and tidy for somewhere to sleep at night. Le Touquet is a lovely place and I wouldnt hesitate recommending it to anyone as a first overseas destination.

It's many years since I flew into Le Touquet (or rather it's new "text-speak" name L2K. Flew in this week and enjoyed it every bit as the first time. London Info as far as mid channel to Bologne then planned to call Lille (per chart) at 5,500' but London said "I think you need to just call Le Touquet". They asked me to report entering controlled airspace, then report downwind for 32 right hand.
It's only an hour from my base at 100kts but we decided to stay overnight and it was well worth it (highly recommend Hotel Bristol for 100 Euros). Great chance to eat in town and have a bottle of wine before a stroll round the lovely shops, load up with cheese and delicious fruit/veg before flying back.
100x better than most GA fields in the UK. Highly recommended.
Computer in area next to bikes for self briefing (make sure you know your Met Office log in or use a freebie like euro.propilots etc.
Landing fee and overnight parking 29 Euro for a 172.
