“ | I also did my PPL there but since moved away. I was living in Potton which was fantastic for spur of the moment flying! Seems it's all changed there now. I was in the UK in May to keep current, and ended up flying at Bourn again (and Duxford). I had NO IDEA that another club existed at LG!!!With no email address on the website (which is also sketchy, at best), can anyone tell me what a/c are available for hire? There are no pics or information given. I hope this can one day return to its former glory. It was enormous fun flying there and I miss it. Maybe on my next return visit.....I can get a check ride there! ” |
“ | Visited Little Gransden today. strip in excellent condition, very welcoming.
Esy to spot provided you don't confuse it with the much larger Gransden airfield immedialty adjacent.
no overhead joins and definately PPR. i made blind calls as radio is often unmanned
Lttle club house with chocoate bars, crisp and drinks etc available

“ | Having noticed Little Gransden (EGMJ) on a previous flight to nearby Bourn, I flew in today. Felt welcome when I called for PPR. Nobody on A/G though, so better make blind position reports for the benefit of others in the vicinity. Runway 10/28 is as good as grass runways come - and better than some tarmac I can think of! Decent length too - much more than the Robin needed. The airfiled is not always easy to find (Gransden Lodge gliding site, 1-2 nm to the NE, is easy to spot though), and for the VFR-challenged, is at 15 nm on radial 140 to BKY VOR.
Fairly quiet when I dropped in, with quite a few Yaks, an An-2, and various PA28s. I suppose things are different at week-ends!
I was told to fill in the log and leave my landing fee (a mere 5 quid) in the clubhouse, in the capable paws of the local cat! Great little airfield. ” |
“ | Little Gransden is one of the most friendly airfields, but do not rely on it for fuel. Fuel is only available while the key holder (Dawn) is there and that can be erratic.
To find it, go north up the A1, past Sandy mast and Tempsford disused airfield. Take the second road on the right (this is from the air, remember!) and you should be virtually lined up for r/w 10 just under 5 miles away.
Please do not overfly any houses. It is extremely noise sensitive around there. Please read Pooley's before arriving. ” |
“ | dropped in today, very nice facility clean and well layed out, but hard to see as mentioned before was over it before saw it, glider base was easier to see as mentioned before. look for the yaks parked there as a clue. fuel avalible. ” |
“ | Little Gransden has a reputation for being difficult to spot. When approaching from the west abeam St Neots I found the neighbouring gliding field quite easy to see, but not the field I wanted! However, if you look to the right you'll probably spot the north-south aligned row of hangers at Little Gransden just before you spot the runways! No deadside to to the gliders, so join downwind - all circuits are to the south of the field and avoid overflying all villages.
The facilities are basic but comfortable and the whole airfield has a very relaxed and welcoming feel. If you like Yaks you'll be in heaven as this is the sales and maintenance base for Yak UK Ltd. There's also a rather plushly fitted out Antonov AN2 and plenty of other interesting aircraft in and around the hangars to have a look at. All types appear welcome as long as you are radio-equipped and call in advance for PPR and a brief on procedures. If you are lucky you may be treated to an aerobatics display by the resident experts as well! ” |
