Pilot reviews of Lleweni Parc Airfield
“ | For any GA pilot considering going to the Denbigh/Rhyl area, or anywhere else in Northeast Wales this is a great place to land. Run by Denbigh gliding, for those wishing the freedom of small strip flying, this the place to go. The Parc is found in the valley 2 miles North East of Denbigh and with the runway running East/West there is high ground a few miles either at either end. There is also a high mast on the hills to the East. The runway is 800 metres long but single track road in width which might make life interesting in a cross wind, it also slopes upwards on Runway 27. The Parc operates within farmed land and so it is definitely 'keep off the grass' read the briefing notes for pilots on the Parc's website. Radio calls are recommended, these are 'blind' so do not expect a response. Because of local gliding keep a good lookout and establish runway and circuit in use, on the ground you cannot see the whole length of the runway due to the slope so be aware of potential conflict on still days. Get regional pressure settings before landing as the Radio is not necessarily going to be manned. A great experience with no hassle, just stay safe jump in plane and go. ” |
