Lundy Island Airfield
Small island strip about 400m long running across the top of the island.
Quite rough, and marked out by white posts.

“ | Visited Lundy Island on September the 1st, using rwy 24. Wind given by Chivenor radio 260/15. Plane PA28-140, 1POB. Called early on the phone to find out about rwy conditions and extra info(sheeps, etc). I did few low passes to assess rwy and landed on 24. Was keepeing to the left on the centreline (imaginery one). After stoped, taxi very carefully. Surface is rough but nothing too extreme. The 400m strip is going slightly downhill both sides from midpoint so after touch down and at the take off only the first half is visible. My advice: before take off walk all the length, to recognize mid point(white post on the left hand side rwy24) and best possible line. Rwy quite wide. After landing found the tavern -great food, and paid £20 landing fee. Take off rwy 24, short field tech, having flaps ready if needed, but climbed nicely with no flaps, used approx 250-300m. Im very happy I got there. It's been on my 'to do' list for some time. Good experience, Ill be back. :) ” |
