“ | Flew into Membury for the first time today with 4 other aircraft form our home airfield.
An excelent little airfield with a choice or runways. The old wartime runways have been re-surfaced for part of their width Tthey are pretty narrow at 8m and 5 m wide) with new tarmac and are in excellent condition. Do not be tempted to venture onto the old wartime surfaces though.
There are also grass strips on the airfield however it seems that these are only available in the summer.
There are no facilties at membury however we did find that it was possible to walk over to the boundary of the airfield and make our way into the Membury motorway services!
Extremely easy to find on the south side of the M4 behind the motorway services but watch out for the radio mast just to the North.
PPR is essential and a landing fee is payable but make a visit to support the arifield and the investment that has been made there. no ATC or dedicated freuqency so use safety com and make blind calls. ” |

“ | Membury is growing fast, it now has three grass runways and two newly re-surfaced tarmac runways. As has been said on this forum the hard runways are a little narrow but very smooth. A large new hangar has just been built and I am told that hangarage is avalable. The airfield is primaraly the base for Southern Sailplanes who are a BCAR and EASA part M maintenance company who also are expert glider mantaners. Due to the model aircraft flying that takes place it is mandarory to contact Southern Sailplanes or Aviation Enterprises who are the co owners of the airfield before visiting. ” |
