Pilot reviews of Milson Airstrip
“ | I visited Milson whilst enroute from Chase Farm to Carrickmore and Chris Jones organised fuel to be available for me, I ended up being weathered in at Milson. Chris and Pat kindly offered me the Caravan to nightstop in, I was looked after fantastically and even got fed that evening, I will be sending a cheque to the air ambulance which was all Chris requested that I donate something to his chosen charity. This airfield is one of the best, if not the best I have ever been to, a very well maintained strip with plenty of amenities made available. I was pleased that the Alsation was friendly enough as it looks quite daunting running towards you, the runway has quite a noticeable upslope to the north so I think in most instances you land to the north and take off to the south.
Certainly going to return again as it was well worth the visit, definitely the best airstrip in the midlands. ” |
“ | We flew in to Milson on Sunday for their fly in. Originally we were looking at Stoke Golding's fly in but due to the fact we didn't receive a reply e-mail we settled for Milson! We were so glad we did as this is a fantastic airstrip with very hospitable owners and wonderful scenery. Chris and Pat were great hosts and laid on a fab BBQ, drinks etc which all went towards the air ambulance which was a great gesture. This airfield has to be one of the best, if not the best we have ever been to, which offers camping or a B and B if you want to take advantage of the fantastic walks nearby. It's a well maintained strip with plenty of places to visit nearby. A visit to see vulcan the dog is reason enough for us to go back soon! If you visit on any other day I am sure the owners would be more than happy to point you in the direction of a good pub. ” |
“ | Myself and my partner Debbie were looking for somewhere in Shropshire to base our C42 to enable us to fly to various airfields and enjoy walking the glorious countryside in this part of the world. We were going to camp but the owner, Chris Jones offered us b and b at a very reasonable cost so we went for it. It was the best decision we ever made! Chris and his wife Pat made us feel like part of the family from the minute we arrived. The house and our room were beautiful and the breakfasts were first class. Nothing was too much trouble. The C42 was hangared, mogas was provided and Vulcan the German Shepherd was a delight! We left, reluctantly, after three of the best days flying and walking we have ever had. Brilliant! ” |
