“ | A nice little strip which is a 7 minute taxi ride or one hour walk from Billericay. The owner was most helpful and welcoming and refused to take any contribution from us.
If you've not been before it's not that easy to spot from the air but there is a small lake immediately south of the strip within the confines of the field. Topographically the runway resembles an upturned saucer although the average slope taking off towards the west is about 1 % downhill. A week before we landed there had been torrential downpours but apart from a damp patch at the extreme east end the runway was dry. From Google the length appears to be 630 metres. Landing towards the west there are some telephone poles with wires as you cross the road just before the threshold. Taking off to the west there is a significant tree on right hand edge at the end of the strip and there was also a small mound of earth on the left hand side. If you've not been there before I would recommend walking the strip to see where these obstacles are before flying the take off. There is pedestrian activity as people walk across the runway to go to/from the fishing lake.
Hope this information helps. ” |
