Nevers (LFQG) (FR)
Nevers is a very useful airfield if you're travelling further south in France. It's about 3 hours from the UK south coast and has customs at 2 hours notice by phone to AFIS. Thierry in the tower also speaks English on the RT. He's a microlight and autogyro pilot who has toured the UK and is very helpful. The landing fee is about 7-8 euros. Fuel and ATIS is only available Monday to Friday, but Thierry said if you telephone in advance it's possible to arrange fuel at the weekend. There is a combination locked gate to get airside. There is also a real met office where you can get a briefing and look at the weather radar. There's no obvious food although there is a Carrefour within walking distance and it's on the edge of the town.
