Visited the Charity Fly-in at North Weald today along with 6 other aircraft from our airfield in Sussex.
Its a long time since I have been to North Weald and the Stanstead TMZ has appeared in the meanwhile, but it was straightforward once I had reminded myself of the procedures. We were given a specific squawk (not the normal Stanstead listening squawk) when we called for PPR but I'm not sure whether this was just for the fly-in.
Class A at 1500' above so cicuits are at 800'.
The Squadron restaurant is good, the runways are in good condition and the welcome was friendly.
Some interesting aircraft based there - we parked next to three Folland Gnats (now that would be a great weekend toy!) and there were a number of Sukois and Yaks doing their stuff.
Well worth a visit
