26 Aug 07: Update on Perth comments
Latest review
“ | Perth had a fantastic air day in June including a fly-in which was limited in number only by poor weather in England. Those who made the trip commented that the air day/fly in was the best they had ever been to. The airport has excellent facilities with a great choice of runways, including licensed grass (rare this far North!) Engineering is provided by ACS. Tayflite commercial training is now in full swing again as Tayflite/ ACS providing CPL,FI,MEP/IR stuff. Leading Edge(also at Cumbernauld) offer PPL, IMC, NIGHT training. There is accomodation on the airfield at reasonable cost (Sky Lodge) and a good choice within a short distance of the airfield. There is a good restaurant and a cafe on the airfield too.
Perth has a chequered history like many airfields bit it is quite well run now, with enough staff to make sure everything runs smoothly day to day. It has a better than average weather record, is every bit as close to the best areas of Scotland as any other airfield and is not only well worth a short 'pop in' but should provide enough interesting flying to keep folks based here for a good few days at least. The club (Scottish Aero Club) has shaken off its 'old jacket and badge' style and is becoming very open to all....thank goodness! Aviation is for everyone after all, and what better place could there be for some superb flying along with beautiful Perthshire on the doorstep (Scotlands very own New Zealand) ” |
