“ | Flew into this airfield yesterday from EGBJ. Really friendly and warm welcome from staff and we enjoyed a jolly good Flyers breakfast. Thanks!! ” |
“ | Re-visited today 20th Feb in N66MS ex Elstree via North Weald......just a lovely little airfield wx was windy, rain and low cloud....only 2 others flying circuits.....wind was 250* @ 16 g20 kts....I imagine during the Summer the grass area near the aerodrome building is busy?
Will re-visit in Summer....any excuse!!!! ” |
“ | Hi Bob, Glad to hear that you enjoyed your visit to Conington on the 26th. I was on duty in the tower on that Saturday so thanks for your 5 rating. Most of the tower staff on duty at the weekends are PPL's and flying club members so we do our very best to provide a decent service. Look forward to seeing you again soon. Dave ” |
“ | Flew in to Connington today, Saturday 26th September, great day to fly, everywhere very busy, great ATC, great food, all in all an excellent destination, only a quick flight from North Weald, but really enjoyable. ” |
“ | Flew in today (17th Jan 2015) from Elstree in N66MS pa28 turbo arrow easy to find the airfield, nice clean and welcoming facilities....food was good....the "marshaller/ground person" very helpful will hopefully visit again. ” |
“ | This is my second visit connington. It was part of my QXC. Lovely people, very friendly and helpful. They are very approachable. Makes you feel better...especially if you are a student. Club atmosphere is also cosy. ATC were helpful and friendly. They were aware that I was a student and assisted even though they didn't neccessarily have to. Will definitely visit this airfield many a times in the future. ” |
“ | Second visit to Conington (15/5)inbound from Wolves HPG. Early morning arrival before airfield had officially opened, but got A/G while in circuit to land. Easy to spot coming in from the west even with the early morning sun. Runway 28L - could do with a new surface but fine for a C42. Welcome & parking advice from Peter (A/G) when on ground. Left a/c at airfield while working in P'boro, until late afternoon - no problem. Watched some circuit traffic & spoke with Gareth Aggett C42 instructor @ Conington before setting off back to W'ton HPG. Didn't use the cafe or briefing facilities - maybe I should have used the latter as viz was poor around Leicester/East Mids (not expected). All in all a nice spot to fly into, and with the added bonus (for me) of being close to the City of P'boro. ” |
“ | Flew to Conington today (02/08/13) in the Grumman AA5, Challenging crosswind on landing but got down nicely and backtracked to vacate at Bravo. Parking on the grass adjacent to the B holding point, we were out of the way and the masses of 152's had plenty room for their power checks etc... Popped inside to pay the landing fee of £10 and had a coffee and Oasis which came to just £2.30! Had to buy 3 litres as we were running low, suspected the new oil cooler was on a drinking spree. W15-W50 Oil we topped up with which was at a reasonable price just shy of £30. Departure to Wellesbourne more or less straight out with helpful A/G Radio! A more expensive trip to Peterborough than normal but well worth the visit! ” |
“ | Flew into P'boro Conington last week - good PPR advice before flight. Slightly unusually joining procedure, although we were fully prepared - info on web-site & AFE. Landing on 10 meant we just had to continue along active to park, but backtracking on active to holding point C must be interesting when circuit is very busy! Mid-week was OK. Helpful welcome from A/G, and from office lady. Good coffee & bun, plus seating out in the sun, made the trip worthwhile. Didn't need the briefing facilities. All in all a very pleasant airfield on a beautiful Spring day. ” |
“ | What a nice visit to Conington today! All helped by some fine October sunshine. Food was great, fuelling was efficient and delivered in a humourous manner. Lady in the booking in department was friendly and willing to negotiate. Free landing with 40 litres of fuel (Perth, pay attention!).
We sat in the sun and consumed tea and luncheon. Flying does not get much better than this. ” |
“ | Flew into Conington on 12 September from Weybourne to refuel whilst en-route to Oxford. The runway was in great condition, fuelling was quick and close to the parking area, (we pushed back without needing to start-up for taxi). Whilst there, we decided to walk to Conington village, (a hamlet really), which was on the far side of the airfield. The roads were very quiet and the greyhounds off the lead most of the time.
Back at the airfield, the weather had closed in and we sat it out for an hour and tried the café food – excellent, especially the jam sponge and custard! The club house is lovely and has memorabilia from when the USAAF B17’s were based there during the war, (when it was known as RAF Glatton). The duty manager got us weather for our flight to Oxford and all the staff there could not have been more helpful. The dogs especially liked the fuss everyone made of them…..!
A lovely friendly airfield with a great café well worth a visit.

“ | Flew into Connington 19th March 2012. Very professional and welcoming all round. Licensed runway in good condition. Helpful marshaller pushed me back into a parking space after fueling. The landing fee is free is you uplift 40L or more AVGAS per engine. The joining procedure is non-standard but works very well and allows you to keep a good eye on other traffic. There are diagrams on their web site and in commercial flight guides.
The restaurant is small but comfortable, with seating inside and outside , as well as a conservatory for those who can't make up their mind. Didn't sample the food, but plenty of other people were eating so I imagine it's pretty good.
I will definitely be back on my way to Skegness in the summer. ” |
“ | Took the Sting into Connington today. Have been here a couple of times before and as always the welcome was warm.
It wasn't all that busy, perhaps because of all the haze around today.
Landing fee is reasonable and the cafe was good although we only had drinks this time. ” |
“ | I flew in to Connington on Sunday 8th August, after a thourough PPR briefing about joining the circuit, it all became very clear and very easy upon arrival. After the marshaller had helped me push back into a parking space, it was off to the cafe. The food was excellent and good value as was the landing fee, this was the first time I had been back to Connington as P1 since my qualifying cross country so it was nice to re visit. Well worth visiting. ” |
“ | Took advantage of a visit to Sibson to drop into Peterborough Conington as they are only 7 nm apart and as it shares the same frequency with my home airfield, Deanland I have been listening to their activity for years! (a point to remember when you are talking to Conington).
A very straightforward airfield to find and get into, with a exceptionally good, long, runway.
The restaurant and facilities are good and there is a lot of activity.
Circuits are advised as being variable so important to get a clear briefing.
Worth the visit and a return. ” |
“ | Flew into Conington recently for the first time and was very impressed. I received a warm friendly welcome from Julie & Sarah, a great team, and the food was excellent.
Visited the Aerobatics over this weekend and thought how organised the event was for such a small Airfield, the staff worked very hard. Will be back soon, everything an Airfield should be. ” |
“ | Flew into Conington today from Biggin Hill. Very friendly and helpful. Although we only had coffee and a sausage sandwich (flyers usual!!) many people were there for lunch.
Very pleasant and worth a visit (landing fee only a tenner). ” |
“ | I have been flying from Conington for about four years now after moving up from the Kent area. I am not here to rate the services supplied by Conington but to point out that I have never had a problem at the airfield and mistakes can occur, If I was due a landing fee refund I would have asked about it at the time and if I had missed it I would have been on the phone to the airfield pronto. I know for a fact this does not happen on a regular basis. It might have been nice for Mr Jackson to have considered this prior to his posting. There is always a warm welcome at Conington whatever you fly..............
” |
“ | I didn't get my £10 back after buying 50 litres!
” |
“ | First trip of 2009 chose a short hop from my home field of Wellsbourne to Connington. Had tried over Xmas to visit, but weather prevented. Very helpful ATC, easy to find as strip just past motorway when approaching from the west. Nice long tarmac strip, parked up with the help of a marshall and enjoyed a very nice hot cup of tea in the clubhouse. An excellent friendly welcome and will be back later in the year for lunch and a sit out on the patio! ” |
“ | Took one of the works aircraft in there today for a quick coffee. Friendly airfield and helpful A/G radio.
Clubhouse was fairly quiet with just a few aviators enjoying the afternoon sun. ” |
“ | Flew in to Conington on Sunday 24th a blustery day wind 17 mph across runway. Excellent service from the tower and a marshall to park you. Nice cafe and freindly service. all in all a nice place to visit. ” |
“ | My first land away was at Conington on Saturday 26th January, 2008. Nearly missed it because for a change the actual track was spot on, so the airfield was hidden under the nose! Excellent service from A/G, great runway (but a little smaller than I'm used to at Brize!) and even someone to push the plane back into the (admittedly limited) parking space.
Good reception from the staff in the club house, and some good food for lunch too. Landing fee was waived when we uplifted 40 litres of fuel too, but I'd have been happy paying it.
Will definitely be back (in fact, it's one of the options for my QXC)! ” |
“ | Flew in here for the first time today. Very well looked-after airfield with a warm welcome, decent food, efficient A/G and an excellent new-looking clubhouse and tower building.
Parking is a little limited, but this airfield is well worth the visit, offering good facilities in a very pleasant location.
” |
“ | No hesitation in saying that connington has to be one of the nicest airfields I have visited. The flying facilities ( briefing / runway) are fabulous although the parking is very limited. The A/G is spot on, overflying or landing. The food service, quality, and price is excellent for either lunch or a quick stop over. But most of all the staff are always keen to help, welcoming and interested. I have had landing fees reduced because our aeroplane can't uplift 50 litres but we did fill our tanks, they have rung ahead to get weather and PPR for me. Just what a true GA airfiled should be. ” |
“ | I flew into Conington today - very easy to find with an easy tarmac runway (watch out for the displaced threshold) and helpful A/G. Smart new restaurant with excellent food with very friendly service. Highly recommended - pay it a visit - just how a GA airfield should be and they all need our support. ” |
“ | Nice airfield, friendly staff, nice clubhouse, quiet location and (handy for student pilot) dead easy to find! ” |
“ | Flew into Conington yesterday for the first time. Very friendly atmosphere - great value food and love the conservatory overlooking the airfield!
Very helicopter friendly!
Fully recommend a stop for lunch if you are in the area!
” |
“ | Visited Conington on Saturday 1st July 06, for an overnight stay. Very nice airfield, and very friendly staff, and even a handling service to help park the plane!! Nice little bar/cafe, but didn't try the food, but I'm sure its a s good as the rest. A great place to visit. I'm sure I will be there again. ” |
“ | I cannot compliment this airfield enough, the staff are so helpful and friendly, nothing is too much trouble. There is a wonderful club atmosphere. Easy to locate between the A1 and Railway. ” |
“ | My wife and I, plus Basil, the Spaniel, love flying into Conington! We have been visiting for 6 years with our faithful C150, G-AWGK, and really feel that it is " home away from home".Excellent facilities in every respect. ” |
“ | I flew into Connington last night at five minutes to 6, and even though they were shutting up they made me feel very welcome and invited me to stay for a little while. Great clubhouse and an excellent runway surface! Very helpful on the radio and a great experience all round! I'll be coming back for some food one day!
Many thanks. ” |
“ | I approached Conington in early 2005 with the intention of taking temporary membership to complete my Night Qualification there.
They are great; they are open for flying until 9pm on Thursday evenings, summer or winter. Very friendly people, and the food at the bar is pretty good, too, especially on Thursdays. I'll be returning... ” |
“ | Great place - really friendly. Modern clubhouse built in the last few years and they do a nice all day breakfast! ” |
“ | I had to divert into Conington in July due to clag overhead Leicester, and they were an extremely friendly and helpful bunch of folks.
The airfield is easy to find, lying slap between the A1 and East Coast Main Line which both run dead straight north to south. Landing fee is a tenner, although if you uplift 40 litres you get the landing fee waived. Food is quick, tasty and good value. Clubhouse well laid out. Heartily recommended. :) ” |
“ | Free landing when you uplift 40 litres plus good food and welcome make a visit well worthwhile ” |
“ | I visited conington as my second land-away late last year. I thought everything about the experience was first class, and I can only wonder why it was so quiet. From when I rang in the morning to changing frequency on the way out the ATC were massively friendly.
Great cafe, lovely obstruction free approach, and fabulous huge runway. I'll be back! ” |
“ | What a great airfield, easy to find and wonderfully friendly. Great club house. I was truly impressed. Landing fee is great value for what you get. So, it does have to be asked...what are you waiting for??????? ” |
“ | My first Nav exercise, cranfield to Connington. Have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality, and the "statutory" bacon sarnie immensely, with a great view of the runway from the new and immaculate consevatory on the side of the club house.
Will be making more trips there, both as student, and PPL - fingers crossed! ” |
“ | A nice airfield to visit, very friendly reception although parking is a bit tight. Free landing if you top up with fuel and good food in the restaurant. ” |
“ | Lovely clubhouse
Great food Really nice and friendly people What are you waiting for??? ” |
