Visited Peterborough Sibson (EGSP) from Netherthorpe (EGNF) on 06/12/2017, as usual in G-ROLY a C172 based at Netherthorpe.
We were originally going to try Old Warden (EGTH) but with lack of daylight hours and PPR required we opted for a shorter flight to Sibson, an airfield never before visited, probably due to the parachute drop zone etc. No issues at all today, PPR was arranged easily on the phone with lots of helpful info given especially regarding the power lines on approach to runway 24. We had a transit of the Wittering MATZ stub before initially finding Sibson quite difficult to spot. The approach over the power lines was fine, although on a low sun day I can imagine these being more difficult to spot.
It was rather quiet at the airfield but the A/G operator was very helpful in supplying fuel for G-ROLY and tea and coffee for us!
Only a short visit today but will be back in the busier summer months! |
