6 Dec 17 - Liam Sandie - Barnsley

Visited Peterborough Sibson (EGSP) from Netherthorpe (EGNF) on 06/12/2017, as usual in G-ROLY a C172 based at Netherthorpe.

We were originally going to try Old Warden (EGTH) but with lack of daylight hours and PPR required we opted for a shorter flight to Sibson, an airfield never before visited, probably due to the parachute drop zone etc. No issues at all today, PPR was arranged easily on the phone with lots of helpful info given especially regarding the power lines on approach to runway 24. We had a transit of the Wittering MATZ stub before initially finding Sibson quite difficult to spot. The approach over the power lines was fine, although on a low sun day I can imagine these being more difficult to spot.

It was rather quiet at the airfield but the A/G operator was very helpful in supplying fuel for G-ROLY and tea and coffee for us!

Only a short visit today but will be back in the busier summer months!

made my first visit to Peterborough Sibson this weekend. a very nice airfield. Two runways and 24 /06 was i use at the time of my visit. this has power lines on the 24 approach and therefore a very long displaced threshold, however its a long runway and its all very straightforward. not the easiest filed to spot if you are not familiar and I was advised to locate the masts to the south and pick up downwind from there which did the trick. loads of activity including free-fall so absolutely no overhead or deadside joins. also it just in the MATZ so check the website or guide regarding procedure. With a decent cafe and reasonably priced fuel available its an arfield well worth a visit.

Visited this nice field on the way back to Denham from Manchester. The field looks very small from the air, in fact both the P1 and I had lengthy discussion on Pooleys being wrong, showing 900mtrs (only to be totally disproved when on the gound). Strange optical illusion? High power lines are definately an "eye-opener" on finals (as per 2 previous reviews) although climbing out over the trees presented no problems. Fuelled up and were given free coffee and doughnuts (very helpful and friendly staff and ATC). Surprisingly little activity (the parachuting aircraft was broken) only saw 2 other movements while there, but understand this is the exception rather than the rule. Will definately visit again. Worth dropping in.

4 Jun 07 - Bob Chapman - North Weald
I flew into Peterborough Sibson from Andrewsfield on Friday 1st June in my Jabiru J430 with some friends in a 172 from North Weald. Food and drinks available from machine, but the very kind lady in the tower offered us the use of her car, to go to the local pub for lunch, which we did. A nice lunch and very friendly people at the airfield, the field is easy to find and whilst it does have power lines near the threshold, they really do not present any problems. Highly Recommended

27 Mar 06 - Nick .
Visited Sibson Saturday. Grass field with two runways 15/33 and 24/06. on 24 there are some High tension electric cables about 1.5 miles on final, they focus the approach. also at the end on climb out there are trees close to the fence.

The aerodrome is very busy on weekends with paracuting and fixed wing flying. The flying school there had a large number of planes to hire, Piper worrior, Arrow, Robin, Cub, Pits, Moth,

Seamed a very fiendly place no cafe but food and drinks avalible from vending machine.

in the RAF wittering MATZ so in the week they give Sqwark etc. not a problem i believe.

all in all a very warm welcome awaits, lots to see and very GA.
