Pilot reviews of Rhigos Airfield
“ | The Vale of Neath Gliding Club operates out of this strip but dont have a lot of activity there and you may well find if you call for PPR they will be happy to see you in a microlight or perhaps something else. Its a tricky one to find by road without SatNav. Facilities if open are tea and coffee making facilities. I would say a very warm welcome indeed and much to chat about. Apart from the welcome one reason to come is the stunning view of the reservoir and stunning cliffs of the mountain next door, complete with calls of its peregrine falcons. I didnt mind the runways but require experience and you have the choice on bumpy garvel or undulating grass. No fees when I came in. PPR essential. ” |
“ | A fairly undulating strip but plenty of landing / take off distance available. Grass was fairly long and boggy at far Western end of the strip but fairly straight forward to get into and out of. Watch out for electricity pylons 200m or so out to the East. ” |
