“ | Flown in a few times this year and driven in lots , lovely Airfield one of my favs, food is so so, holiday inn outside is better for food. ” |
“ | great place, foods good and every one is friendly ” |
“ | Club fly out today to Rochester from Conington. Not been back for years since moving north. Great service on the radio both on arrival and departure the whole experience was hassle free, very friendly. Hope we go back next year. Airfield just as I remember it, couple of cosmetic changes and new heli hanger, some of the group visited the cafe but I did not. No one complained so it must have been alright. Great day out. ” |
“ | Have been there a few times as a student, really friendly place they are always happy to help! Cafe is good too! Can get busy on the weekends but that is all part of the fun? - Also have a nice viewing area too! ” |
“ | A nice little airfield, cafe very welcoming and good price. Not a great deal going on when I visited very few aircraft to be seen and I seemed to be the only visitor.
They have a brilliant website with a compilation of webcams that is really handy to see actual weather wherever you are going. Also access tyo Notams and othe rstuff.

“ | Visited here on 6th July 2007 as my first land-away since passing my PPL.
Friendly and helpful radio.Reasonable fees and busy GA atmosphere. Cosy caf. ” |
“ | Flew into Rochester today for the 1st time after a number of abortive attempts due to low cloudbase, presumably a problem resulting from the highish elevation (436') and the proximity of the coast.
This is a very easy airfield to spot, just look to the south east of the river medway as it passes up from Maidstone to Chatham.
Runway 20 was in use today and it was in good condition and, at over 800m in length, twice as long as the Jodel needs.
The taxi ways are a little complex but the Tower soon gave me the required directions. The access to some of the parking and the fuel pumps involves crossing the access road so keep your eyes peeled.
Things were pretty busy with micolights, training and visiting aircraft but the tower coped well.
The cafe is basic and friendly, and at £2.35 for sausage sandwich and mug of tea not too expensive.
£10 landing fee seems reasonable for a well equipped , 2 runway airport. I'll be making a return visit. ” |
“ | Visited Rochester again, this time stayed overnight.
I've got to say it's a very very friendly airfield (although microlights are a pain in the circuit - sorry guys), and I was made to feel at home.
Just one thing though, having to get their by 6pm on the longest day in the year is an inconvenience, come on guys let us foreigners in later!!!
Aside from that great value for money, helpful ATC and a rather pretty local area ” |
“ | Flew in to Rochester on Good Friday, tempted by the offer of a free Hot Cross Bun. Lots of other people had the same idea and I was pleased to see it was very busy as they have been struggling with the "Antis" to keep it open. ATC were excellent and informal, landing fee not bad at £9, the cafe is looking a little run down but the food was good. I didn't partake but the roast lunch looked very good value at £4.95 (I think). The only downside is where do you go if you have a real EFATO off 20. The choice of the trees or the motorway is a bit unnerving. Worth a visit though. ” |
“ | Went into Rochester today as a back seat passenger, waiting for the issue of my PPL from the CAA, so nice to have a fun trip out even if not P1. Could not agree more about the circuit, terrain is very hilly and the airfield is very close to the motorway. But all in all a very nice experience, tower were very organised on what was a busy Saturday afternoon, with rotaries, microlights and visiting and local aircraft. Even dealt with a priority approach for an arriving aircraft with a sick passenger. Very reasonable landing fees and a cracking cuppa in the cafe. Will return as soon as I have my licence to try the breakfast !!! ” |
“ | What an interesting strip.....quite a challenging circuit join but loads of fun.
The staff in the tower were very friendly and helpful, and I can recommend the breakfast at the Horizons cafe.....
Highly recommended ” |
