Pilot reviews of Rufforth Airfield West
“ | Visited Rufforth West on Wednesday 20 October inbound from Full Sutton and outbound to Blackpool. A very friendly and well organised gliding field (there is also a microlight field at the east end). There is a hard runway 35, (36 in 2010 AFE guide) and also a grass runway 35, (not listed in my AFE). Hard runway (at the 35 end) was in super condition, but the local A/G operator advised that the top end had suffered from a couple of days car racing a short time before. Snacks (crisps, chocolate, etc) and tea available and there is a super club house with lots of information about the wartime Bomber Command 6 Group squadrons based here. I really fancy going back to take a longer look around at this lovely and friendly airfield. ” |
