    In brief...

    26 Aug 10: Update

    John Lynch - Ryde IOW
Hi, I have been FI at Sandown Isle of Wight since August 2008 on microlights and business slowly building up - there have been many rumours recently of the airfield being under threat of closure - it remains open for the time being and I would ask fellow aviators to get PPR and fly in to show it is still active, as if the planners can be convinced that it is not in use then there may be a chance of losing yet another strip to 'development' - as if the island needs that !!

    Regards to all.

Cracking day's flying from Wolverhampton HPG to Sandown (Mon 19th June). Usual friendly welcome from A/G service and marshalls. Busy cafe and local bus service into town.

Even got a zone transit/radar service from Solent - my first request - to avoid low level across New Forest.

    Great place
