Sandtoft Airfield (EGCF)

Submitted by: Mike Butler

The airfield operation has now been taken over from DSC by E-Plane Limited from Fenland. The new owner is Humphrey Penney, who has set up an engineering facility at the airfield, and intends to operate the airfield for GA and aircraft engineering. Despite all obstacles, we are up and running. We offer a free coffee/tea + a biscuit to all inbound fliers as an offset to the retained landing fee(£10, £5 microlights) We also offer a friendly welcome to all visitors. DONT BE SHY, GIVE US A TRY! We look forward to greeting you in the new control centre (a portacabins in reality, at the rear of the brick built offices. We do not own that, unfortunately!

Sandtoft Airfield accepts genuine emergency and precautionary diversions without charge per CAA CAP 667 9.2 (c) recommendations.

    9 Dec 09: Resurfacing

    Anton Green - Sheffield
Alledgedly due to re-open after runway resurfacing Monday 14th Dec 2009!

    2 Nov 16 - Martin Lee - N Wales, fly from Chester

Visited on a sunny November day - surprised how many people were about and how many were flying.

A very pleasant and friendly airfield with a very smooth tarmac runway (though it is narrow!). A cup of tea and a bacon butty were £4 and I also got a Happy Face biscuit - in the Happy Cafe.

Landing fee £10. Most arrivals take you through Doncaster's Controlled Airspace but they were very helpful and friendly.

Not much to see and do in the area but an ideal trip for a bacon butty land-away.
