Shobdon Airfield (EGBS)
Just read the report on the Shobdon cafe and I am SO disappointed that a valuable visiting pilot has had such a bad experience at the hands of our catering franchise. We work hard to maintain our reputation as one of the UK's friendliest airfields - a great place to fly from, a great place to fly to and a great place just to be.....
We are in the process of changeover - our current caterer is soon to move on and our new partners soon to arrive. But, that is no excuse for the poor service and standards that you experienced today. Thank you for sharing with us your concerns. We are on the case!
Shobdon has so much to offer to visiting pilots. Fantastic countryside, wonderfully free airspace and a very warm welcome to ALL our visitors.
We will be working extra hard to ensure that this experience is a one off. Please come to see us again!

“ | I last visited in March 2016 and I must say once again (Oct 2017) there was a very warm and friendly reception from the tower and from Dawn to whom I paid the £ 14 landing fee for an SEP. By the time you read this, new catering arrangements will be in place so it will be interesting to visit again and see how they are. As far as the airfield is concerned the runway is in good condition and if one prefers, there is a parallel grass runway. We just managed to exit 27 hard via "Charlie" avoiding the need to backtrack. The grass parking is plentiful. Fuel is straight ahead between the hangar and Charlie and it is self service with a standard credit card for avgas or mogas. Well worth a look on their website under Pilot Information for noise abatement etc but it's basically avoid the small villages. Information (including a webcam) can be found on : http://shobdonairfield.co.uk You may also want to browse Facebook for Shobdon Airfield and/or Herefordshire Aero Club. This is the sort of place that if you needed a hand - they would only be too happy to assist. Billiant. ” |
