Visited Sturgate(EGCS) from Netherthorpe on 07/08/2014 in G-ROLY a C172 based at Netherthorpe.
This was only a very short flight and we landed on runway 27, careful to avoid the EGR313 at Scampton.
No problems with PPR. We were however under the illusion that they had reciprocal landing arrangements with Netherthorpe however we were told this was certainly not the case and only applied at weekends. We were also told the landing was free if we uplifted fuel (minimum 25 litres) however they could only take cash. We walked 1.5 miles to a nearby post office in the village hall at Kexby for cash to avoid having to spend the £10 on a landing fee.
No food or drink available and no wi-fi, no internet reception on the phone either. Very little going on to be honest. We were shown around an aircraft currently getting painted and it materialised that they had also painted G-ROLY some 12 years earlier they said.
We departed to the north and went via Trent falls before returning to Netherthorpe.
