Flew into Turweston on Sunday 8th October with my wife - new airfield in the logbook. Low cloud so joined downwind at 1000' (which I think everyone was doing). Busy when we arrived, but as soon as we & a couple of others had landed - nothing! Helpful radio - although level 3/4 on approach to airfield. Good parking and have to say the "new" tower is impressive. Cafe was a delight, good chicken subs and drinks. Missed out on the roast beef & trimmings. Didn't check the briefing facilities or fuel availability. All in all one to come back to again on a nice summer's day

I first flew into Turweston in December 2014 when there was hardly anyone there and the control tower was in a small portacabin. Very impressive transformation I saw when I flew-in on 18 May. The new building now offers a cafe with good food and a balcony with a full view of the RW and all aircraft movement. A lake and well maintained garden gave a very pleasant atmosphere around the new building. The aerodrome was bustling with many light aircraft coming and going and one doing touch and go's. You have a choice of asphalt or a grass runway, I used the grass to land and asphalt to take off. My Skyranger microlight was the tiniest amongst the light aircraft and a jet flying around there. An altogether enjoyable experience.

Visited on a rather breezy Friday afternoon and have to say this is a good place. Excellent long runway and the offset approach to 27 was just a case of lining up with 24 at Silverstone. Some interesting aircraft in the hangers. Very reasonable landing fee too!

Dropped into Turweston for fuel on Tuesday 29th May 2012 in a C172, G-ROLY on the way back from The Isle of Wight en-route to Netherthorpe.
Phoned up and got PPR, was told the hard runway was out of action so we would need to use the grass. Joined downwind for 27 avoiding Hinton In The Hedges by flying a little further north first.
No problem with the grss runway and it was quite smooth. The airfield had quite a few aircraft parked but not many people around. Had a nosy around and a toilet stop while getting G-ROLY refuelled at £2.11 a litre for AVGAS, (The new stuff also available).
We were told that AVGAS will we dropping in price in the next few days. We had 140 litres delivered which took it to its absolute max.
Friendly service and the tarmac runway was due to be finished by Saturday whichwill be the 2nd June 2012.
Nice views of Silverstone on approach too.
Would like to revisit with a bit more time to spare.

Dropped in (PPR) from Shoreham to a very warm welcome. Approaching from the south can be confusing with all the avoidance areas but followed useful advice from the tower to aim for Silverstone race track and follow R24 to intercept R27 short final. Very affable man in the tower, and after a great bacon butty we were invited to look around the hangers and workshops - some very impressive machines and paint jobs.
Topped up with 60 litres and saved the £10 landing fee. A great day.

Used to go on this airfield as a young person on my monkey bike when I lived in Brackley.Moved to Devon In my 20's.Now with my PPL in hand late summer 2003 this was one of the first airfields I had to visit.Firstly I notced it has changed a great deal from when I was 10,secondly I wasn't chased away.(by Albert)Quite the opposite in fact.
I uploaded more than 60 litres of fuel so my landing fee was wavered.and the fuel is quite a bit cheaper than my home airport (Exeter)so all was good there. quite a large number of my family was there to greet me and nobody minded that. Nice little tea shop.Very helpful on the planning for the return journey home.weather and wind etc.so all in all a pleasure to visit.in fact I returned the following week. and will do alot more in the future. The only thing that court me out was the runway being quite narrow crosswind landings can be tricky also I felt I was higher than I was on approach so a little look now and again at one of those clocks and you will be fine. also hinton-in-the-hedges about 5 miles to the south-west where there is constant parachute activity especially at weekends. Safe Flying Folks Shaun, Devon
