“ | Given the more or less hostile attitude of Cardiff to GA nowadays (last time I picked up pax there the Flying Club told me if she left her car in their car park overnight it would be towed away!) the whole of SE Wales is very poorly provided for. Upfield Farm on the other had is friendly, helpful, welcoming and reasonably priced, and I would rather drive 30 minutes to get home from there than 15 from EGFF. I have visited on a number of occasions and always without problems of any kind. We need more like Ken. ” |
“ | I had a project in Cardiff, flew into Upfield Farm from Sywell 3 times in June 08, on each occassion Ken Bowen was really helpful, he loaned me his old Volvo to get into Cardiff without which I would have had significant taxi charges, the field is clearly well manged - I would return there anytime

“ | I visited Upfield yesterday (30 Aug). Extremely friendly, practical, nice field - very many thanks to Ken Bowen. DO make sure you call for PPR of course: at the moment the info on this website is out of date. There's no grass runway (the concrete one's fairly narrow but great - much nicer approach from the NE - but don't even think of straying off the edge). Circuits are currently all to the NORTH, the opposite way around to the info on this website. So circuits are 05 LH, 23 RH. ” |
“ | Some 2 weeks ago I ferried a vintage aircraft from Paris to Ireland. The approaches and departure are clear of obstructions and runway in excellent condition.Kevin the man in charge is most helpfull not only with flight planning and advice on the surrounding area but with a wealth of valuable technical knowlege as well. When unexpected weather blew up he took the initiative to tie down the aircraft and placed a tractor in front of it.
Its the spirit of Upfield Farm that will keep G.A.alive unlike the many expensive and sterile Flight Services that I visited along the way. ” |
“ | Today 25/09/05 I visited Upfield Farm for the first time. We were made most welcome. Landing fee is £5 with free coffee.
The owner has created a concrete strip 648 x 7 metres, 05/23 and has laid it himself. It covers the existing grass runway, do not go on to the grass as it is very rough at present although the owner intends to recreate a grass strip as well. We wish him well, as there are not many folk who would go to the trouble of laying that much concrete. ” |
