Wadswick Farm Airfield
Thanks to good support from GA pilots, Wadswick now has full "certificate of lawfulness" and operates year-round without restriction. (It doesn't even get particularly boggy in winter weather and is certainly usable year-round for lighter aircraft.) The runway is 10/28, sloping upwards modestly towards the west and very slightly humped. For that and general safety reasons, we strongly urge all pilots to call Colerne Tower on 120.075 and, if they are not operational, to use Colerne Traffic on the same frequency. Windsock and smoking chimney(!) are located on the south side of the runway at the western end and I would work on 650 metres length, with a tall fence/hedge at the east end. There is generally a substantial "elephant grass" crop adjacent to the N. of the runway and a solar farm to the S. With a variety of buildings, trees etc. fairly close at hand, care is is needed all the way to a landing and a full stop.

In brief...
16 Feb 10: Certificate of Lawfulness
The owner and users of Wadswick Farm Strip are seeking to regularise their position as part of an application to build a hangar by the strip, by seeking a "Certificate of Lawfulness". It may be a bit of a longshot for many aviators as the strip is located at the western extremity of Lyneham airspace, but if anyone has flown in there, or knows anyone who has, before 2000, could they kindly send a copy of the relevant page in their logbook to John Holden at 20 Budbury Place, Bradford on Avon, Wilts., BA15 1QF. It would be much appreciated!
Latest review
“ | This is an additional review of Wadswick strip, where my aircraft is based. Apart from the strip itself which is 740 metres of very flat well drained grass, there is a farm shop which has one of the largst riding shops in it. It also has a good food and snack place which is open usually 9 to 4.30 each day, and this is very good for visiting pilots and the food is always well presented and often home made. Just to let you know also that the landing fee of £10 is made as a donation to the Wiltshire Air Ambulance at the counter in the shop. ” |
