    In brief...

    14 Mar 09: Night flying

    James Kilford - UKGA Editor
Night flying sessions commenced on the 29th October 2008. The airfield plans to be open every Wednesday and Friday until 20:00 and Saturday until 19:00 during the night flying season. This is subject to weather conditions and demand: a decision is made by 16:00 on the day - please contact the tower by that time if you are interested. The cost is £10 per sortie for based aircraft; for visitors it will be £15 per landing in a single a/c and £20 for twins, touch and gos are half the landing fee.

Not having visited Wellesbourne for a few years, I spent nearly three weeks there in August on a CRI course with On-Track, (what a great organisation and very highly recommended). A great airfield with a very good café which seems to cater for as many motorcyclists and cyclists as it does aircrew.

I got to see this airfield a little differently than usual, (although often from a classroom!), and it just seems a very friendly and welcoming place – I really enjoyed my time there. I hope that the planning issues get resolved soon: It seems that the locals and council are a major force to keep the airfield open, so hopefully, they are on-course to succeed.

Another airfield well worth a visit and which needs our support.
