Pilot reviews of Westonzoyland Airfield
22 Jun 12 - Ben Wyatt
|“||Recieved a warm welcome when I flew in to Westonzoyland on Wednesday. (20th June 2012) The circuit and joining procedures are a tad unusual but the information on the website explains things thoroughly and it was easy enough to fly. A curved approach to Rwy 16 is required to avoid the village and I was impressed with the state of the runway., smooth and well kept. There was still plenty going on even mid-week with a number of club aircraft flying. Decent club house with a friendly atmosphere and DIY tea and coffee and only £3 to land, will be back soon! |

|“||Great little airfield
I dropped in to visit relatives who live in the area and had a tyre go "bang" on arrival. I had hardly shut down before the assistance arived - I didn't even get to split the rim and replace the tube myself!
Unusual and restricted circuit and arrival / departure requirements but its all explained very clearly on the website and the curving final approach to 16 is great fun. I found that marking the circuit and turning points on a Google Earth picture made it straightforward.
Its definately PPR though - several numbers are listed.
Club house and tea / cofee available and its a 5 minute walk into the village where I had a pretty decent lunch.
Very cheap landing fee at £3 so leave a fiver (half it geos to charity in any case) and go back! |
