“ | Wigtown is an old WW2 disused airfeild in SW Scotland near Wigtown Bay. I have used it several times over the past 15 years and was home to at least one aircraft until recently - a DR1050 Jodel. This has now been sold and the airfeild is presently not used. The one remaining part of the old concrete runways that was useable at the end of 24 is now disappearing rapidly into the weeds and is not recomended unless you have visited the airfeild on foot to survey it.
It looks terrible from the air, but is not too bad when you visit on foot. The airfield itself is owned by a local farmer My Sproat 01988 42215. It is a great pity because this is a beautifull part of scotland for flying and the only other option was West Freugh which has also now closed. Please feel to contact me for more information. ” |
