Pilot reviews of Wisley Airfield
“ | Wisley airfield has been closed for years. not available for landings. road crash barriers protect pubic footpaths across runway. personal view - this airfield could provide emergency landing to an aircraft with a life threatening problem - light aircraft could in this case land between barriers in a guessed distance of 3-400 metres. LATCC did not know this when they diverted a light aircraft to Fairoaks several years ago which eventually crashed there severely injuring the occupants. Fairoaks was out of hours at that time so no emergency services were unavailable. Please do not fly low over Wisley or use the centreline for aerobatics as light aircraft are frequently enroute to the OCK beacon ” |
