Piper Turbo Saratoga TC

Aircraft

Submitted by: William Flood

Cast your mind back to the turn of the century. The original owner of N77YY decided to trade in his 97 Saratoga II HP for this factory fresh 1999 Saratoga TC. He loaded the aircraft with options and UK dealer wisely imported it via Denmark for him. The aircraft then entered the 2001 London Sydney Centennial Air Race where on a misty Sunday morning, 38 aircraft ranging from a Grumman Albatross to a Piper Cub all set off from Biggin Hill bound for their first stop in Cannes. The trusty Saratoga carried the owner 14,000 miles to Sydney on the flight of a lifetime, which you would imagine could not be beaten. Then in July 2006 the aircraft was tasked with a mission of greater proportions, Salzburg to Cape Town. An epic flight of 17,000 miles with lots of time over the ocean and some of the most remote places on earth.

Over her life the aircraft has clocked up 2085hrs on the airframe, and the engine has just 111hrs SMOH by Airtime on a dual release in June 2013. The 3 blade prop has only 78hrs SPOH in Sept 2014. The aircraft was originally fitted with optional:

- Air Conditioning

- Co Pilot Instruments

- Stainless Cowling Fasteners

- Oxygen System

- Altitude Pre Select

- L3 Stormscope

The original generous specification was more recently upgraded by the previous owner, who had fitted:

- GAMI Injectors

- EDM 700 Engine Monitor

- Garmin GNS530

- Garmin GTX330 Mode S

- Aspen EFD1000 PFD

- Vortex Generator Kit

- Extensive Knots2U Speed Mods

- L3 Skywatch 497 Traffic

The paint scheme has also been updated in 2009 to a beautiful updated OEM scheme which makes the aircraft look much fresher than the original scheme. We have had the paint work restored to a mirror finish, it really turns heads anywhere it goes. The maintenance history is impeccable, we have every single document going back to the day it was purchased. New annual and fresh FAA IFR checks mean it is ready for it’s next adventure. It is the finest stock aeroplane we have ever owned.

Previous owners have seen the Pyramids, Taj Mahal, Ayers Rock and Tabletop Mountain from the front left seat of N77YY, where will you take it?
